While last week’s federal budget didn’t contain much of an update the government’s consolidation of IT procurement and service delivery, that doesn’t mean Shared Services Canada isn’t making progress, and awarding contracts.
The list of federal contracts and other spending awarded to Ottawa-area companies for the last week of February shows four contracts were awarded by Shared Services Canada during the week, totaling over $7 million.
The majority of that is going to Transpolar Technology Corp., which won a $5,946,583 contract to provide Cisco Nexus internetworking equipment. The company is qualified as an Aboriginal enterprise under the federal government’s Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business, and since its founding in 1995 has worked on IT contracts with the federal Northwest Territories and Nunavut governments.
Northern Micro Inc. won a $672,013 contract to provide HP blade server components, PureLogic IT Solutions Inc. was awarded a $546,802 contract for HP BL860 blade server equipment, and IBM Canada will perform an IBM power 770 upgrade for $432,864.
