Cisco buying Dell: Allan Leinwand’s idea is brilliant
Brad Reese offers GigaOM blogger and Panorama Capital partner, Allan Leinwand’s three reasons why Cisco should buy Dell.
“Cisco can afford it, Cisco would instantly be in the consumer laptop, desktop, printer and monitor business (and) Cisco would now triumph over HP.”
“According to NPD, 91 per cent of all computers sold at retail for more than $1,000 were Macs. That marked a slight increase from the 88 per cent in May. But Apple officially owns that market, and it appears the price cuts across its MacBook Pro lineup introduced in early June helped.”
Gavin Clarke writes that even though Microsoft saw its second year of decline with its year over year quarterly revenue, the company’s planning for growth with its Windows 7 release.
“Microsoft has laid the groundwork to boast a blow-away second fiscal quarter, with the Windows 7 Technology Guarantee Program and other discounts. Revenue from these programs can’t be realized until Windows 7 actually ships, and while Windows 7 will come in at the tail end of the first fiscal quarter, it should be the second that gets the biggest boost.”
