D-Link launches wireless access point upgrade program for SMBs

Networking solutions vendor D-Link Systems has launched an upgrade program for small and medium-sized business to allow them to upgrade their infrastructure to the latest wireless technology.

The program allows customers that purchase the DWL-8600AP Unified Wireless 802.11n Access Point to qualify to receive the new Unified Wireless 802.11ac Access Point (DWL-8610AP) for the discounted price of US$399 when it launches later this year.

The new product will support the IEEE 802.11ac standard, and will be available later this year. It will have maximum wireless signal rates of up to 450 Mbps over the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 Mbps over the 5 GHz band, will support PoE+ power and will carry a limited lifetime warranty.

“D-Link’s latest Access Point products are versatile solutions for both growing businesses seeking to deploy a wireless LAN, as well as medium-to large-scale wireless deployments for larger enterprises, government organizations, schools, hospitals, and hotspots, such as convention halls, hotels and airports,” said Steven Olen, director of product marketing for D-Link Systems, in a statement. “This unique program enables our customers to take advantage of the rich feature set and benefits of the 802.11n Access Point today, knowing the advanced speed of the 802.11ac Access Point can be seamlessly integrated into their solutions tomorrow.”

To qualify for the upgrade, customers must purchase the DWL-8600AP through an authorized D-Link reseller, and one discounted DWL-8610AP will be offered for every DWL-8600AP purchased during the promotion period. Customers have a 90-day window to purchase the new access point at the discounted price from the same reseller.
