HP unveils its Rove 20 mobile all in one PC – A really big tablet

Hewlett-Packard Co.’s HP Envy Rove20 looks like a giant tablet. HP prefers to call it the company’s first mobile All-in-One PC, that brings all the power of a desktop computer to a mobile form factor (that’s not a laptop) designed to share entertainment and gaming with family and friends.

Also part of HP’s product launch this week was several new consumer notebooks, all-in-one PCs and printers.

“Customers are looking for mobility and flexibility in their computing devices to give families new ways to bring generations together,” said Ron Coughlin, senior vice-president and general manager, consumer PCs and consumer solutions for HP, in a statement. “HP is evolving to meet our customers’ needs by designing next-generation form factors, like the Rove mobile All-in-One PC, which will enable people to connect, share and create in ways they never imagined.”

Multitouch is designed to be the primary interface for the Envy Rove20, a 20” all in one PC with a 1,600 x 900 IPS LED panel for wide viewing angles and built-in Beats Audio, powered by 4th generation Intel Core processors, Intel HD audio and 10-point touch. It can be used as a tabletop or stood horizontally, and comes with multiplayer games such as Electronic Arts’ Monopoly, Fingertapps JigsWar Puzzle and Fingertapps Musical Instruments.

It runs Windows 8, and will be available in Canada in late July starting at $999.99.

HP is also launching two all in one PCs with a more traditional form factor – the 20” HP Pavilion 20 TouchSmart and the 23” HP Pavilion 23 TouchSmart, in June for $619.99 and $749.99, respectively.
