Technology vendor Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) showed off its latest Windows 8 laptops at a recent media event in Toronto, and CDN took a closer look at two of the more interesting designs.
Perhaps the most unique of the new offerings is the HP Envy X2, a notebook that also doubles as a tablet when you detach the display from the keyboard using its magnetic lock. Each half features its own battery to allow for 15 hours of combined usage. It’s powered by an 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z276 processor woth 2GM of SDRAM and 64GB of SSD storage, which can be expanded via a Micro SD slot. It wuns the full version of Windows 8.
Another new offering from HP is the Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook. This laptop is touch-enabled to let users take advantage of the full Windows 8 OS via a 15.6-inch HD display. It boasts a thin, magnesium alloy design and meets Intel’s Ultrabook specifications, including an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of SDRAM and a 500GB hard drive. It weights under five pounds, measuring 14.87 by 10.1 by 0.7 inches.
The Envy X2 is available now starting at $849, and the Spectre Xt will be available in late December starting at $1399.
