HP’s new Windows tablets and notebooks put cloud first

Hewlett-Packard Co. has expanded its HP Stream line-up of thin, light Windows-based notebooks and tablets with four new devices designed to leverage the cloud for portable productivity.

The cloud focus is backed-up by 1TB of free storage with Microsoft OneDrive for one year, one year of Office 365 Personal, and an optional 200MB of free 4G data each month with no annual contract for the life of the device on select models.

“Today’s consumers demand mobile products that fit their personal style and allow them to work and play where ever they are,” said Mike Nash, vice-president, product management, consumer personal systems with HP, in a statement.  “The HP Stream products announced today hit the mark with sleek design, portability, access to free cloud storage, and the familiarity of Windows and Office 365.”

The two new HP Stream notebooks come with either an 11.6” or 13.3” HD display (touch optional) and high efficiency with an Intel Celeron  processor and 32GB of eMMC flash memory. HP is also touting stylish design options such as Orchid Magenta and Horizon Blue. Pricing starts at $129.99 and $229.99, respectively.

On the tablet front are two new HP Stream models, a 7” and an 8” tablet.  Pricing starts at $99.99 and $149.99, respectively.
