If Avaya Flare is not a tablet, then what is it?

Avaya Inc.’s video, messaging and collaboration user experience called Flare can work with a number of related endpoints device including a tablet. That is the point the company’s senior vice president Alan Baratz wanted to make to its channel partners at its Partner Conference held here.

CDN Editor Paolo Del Nibletto got an exclusive demo of Flare from Baratz at the show floor. The unit is mobile with a battery that supports HD video for three hours and can be tethered to a desk via a docking station. Equipped with Avaya unified communications software with a new interface called Flare User Experience, the 11.6-inch tablet can be used to pull together ad hoc meetings, including hi-def conferences.
