Mitel improves network performance with new partnership

Mitel has started a new partnership with VeloCloud to improve network performance of its cloud-based business communications and collaboration services with new networking solution called MiCloud Edge.

MiCloud Edge will be powered by VeloCloud’s software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology with the idea of boosting the performance and reliability of enterprise voice and video communications. This is being done to combat expensive bandwidth and branch complexity by offering automated zero-touch deployment and a lower cost of bandwidth with reduced IT maintenance.

The tagline of MiCloud Edge is the ease of installation. Mitel insists that new offices or branches can be up and running in minutes via simplified configuration options that monitor and control the offices from a centralized, cloud-based location.

“Even with the highest performing communications and collaboration tools, businesses require a reliable and consistent network powering them,” said Jon Brinton, EVP and president of Mitel’s cloud division in a statement. “MiCloud Edge simply and cost-effectively transforms network reliability, delivering professional-grade cloud communications and ensuring business-critical applications are always prioritized.”

The new solution is targeted towards companies of all sizes and is currently available for sale in North America.

This isn’t the first new solution announced by Mitel. In October, the enterprise and mobile communications company announced World Cloud, a new global unified communications solution that connects employees through the cloud around the world. Additionally, the company launched a new business phone with one-touch integration.
