The countdown to end of support for Windows Server 2003 is on.
With the July 14th deadline looming, there is officially less than a month to go before servers running the old operating system are potentially exposed to vulnerabilities.
Yet according to research conducted by managed services provider Softchoice, while many businesses organizations have started the migration process, only 7 per cent have completed it and have no instances of the old server operating in their environments.
This, Softchoice said, is only up 3 per cent from last year.
Meanwhile, 21 per cent of some 90,000 servers scanned in 2015 are still fully running Win2K3, only 11 per cent lower than the previous period last year.
“It’s surprising that there still isn’t a greater sense of urgency among organizations to modernize and upgrade their systems,” said David Brisbois, Softchoice’s senior manager of assessment and technology deployment services consulting. “Failing to upgrade in time will only add to costs, complicate the transition, and result in serious business risk.”
