SAP Hana upgrades to service pack 10

SAP

Software giant SAP today launched the next major release of its database management platform SAP Hana.

Specifically, service pack 10 (SP10), which was announced at SAPinsider HANA 2015 currently taking place in Nice, France, brings better connectivity with IoT at the enterprise scale, new application development capabilities, management of big data and extends data availability.

“SAP Hana gives customers one integrated platform for transactional and analytic workloads,” said Quentin Clark, chief technology officer of SAP in a statement. “The new capabilities of SAP HANA ensure data center-readiness, synchronization data to any remote system, extend high availability and disaster recovery of enterprise data and perform advanced analytics.”

Another new feature in SAP Hana is is remote data synchronisation, which connects the enterprise with remote locations.  Developers are also able to take advantage of the capability, namely through the SQL Anywhere suite, according to the company.

The focus on remote location also means that SAP Hana is able to collect and analyse IoT data from places such as ships, gas stations, and even mines with low bandwidth and shaky connections, and even while offline, SAP claims.

In availability enhancements, SP10 incorporates 1-to-n asynchronous replication, auto-host failover for dynamic tiering and incremental backups help reduce system downtime.
