Software-defined networks for data centres

Embrane, a software-defined network services vendor, announced C7 Data Centers, Inc.  is leveraging its data centre and cloud infrastructure for disaster recovery and private cloud.

By integrating Embrane software-defined load balancers and firewalls into its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) portfolio, C7 can offer its customers increased agility and automation for when a failure or disaster strikes.

Wes Swenson, CEO of C7 Data Centers, said while the Cloud has taught us that IaaS and disaster recovery solutions for compute and storage can be delivered rapidly and in an affordable way, the same can not be said of network services. Embrane’s ability to provision business-critical network services in seconds, to easily integrate with our existing infrastructure and its flexible pay-as-you-go pricing model is ideal for C7 and our customers.

Existing co-location customers and enterprises that use C7 for failover will be the initial focus of the new C7 Disaster Recovery solution.

Jon Beck, senior vice president of field operations at Embrane, said C7 is the type of company that looks to new technologies such as software-defined network services from Embrane to change the rules of the game when it comes to the network, DR, and Private Cloud solutions. What better way to differentiate your business, deliver more value to your customers and increase your revenue than bringing new levels of agility and operational simplicity to network services.
