Splunk partners for IoT scalable storage solutions

Tegile Systems and Splunk have announced a partnership to run Splunk analytics on Tegile IntelliFlash. By combining Splunk’s operational intelligence platform with Tegile’s storage infrastructure, businesses will be able to gather insights from the machine-generated data (MGD) and Internet of Things (IoT) data collected.

Tegile, whose storage infrastructure scales both storage performance and capacity without disruption, provides storage that combines multiple types of storage media into a single volume. Splunk and Tegile IntelliFlash automatically places hot, warm, and cold data into the appropriate storage tier within the same storage array and file system based on which of the five stages of the Splunk pipeline it is in. Those stages are: ingest, search, index, query, and visualize.

The new system would reduce the overall workload during hot to warm/cold data bucket movements, making it a helpful system for large, enterprise environments where an admin may have to manage hundreds of volumes of data at a time.

By enabling all data bucket rolls to occur within the same array, file system and volume, data movement becomes a simple metadata update within the array, Tegile reduces Splunk query time by providing flash-optimized storage and metadata.

Additionally, Tegile compresses the already-compressed Splunk data upon ingest into the array, resulting in improved data reduction ratios and cost savings.

Uses for Splunk and Tegile IntelliFlash could include:
