U.S. cloud firm speeds up content delivery

Faster devices and increasing bandwidth are great for workplace productivity as well as enjoying online entertainment content. However faster Internet service has as few unwanted by products and one of them is dwindling patience.

Some research suggest that three seconds is the maximum time a typical Internet user will wait for content to download. After that, 40 per cent of site users are more than likely to abandon a Web site. A mere 01 second delay loading of content could result in one per cent loss in sales.

Providing faster loading Web pages is a key challenge for enterprise IT managers and teams that support business-critical, client-facing Web site.

Aryaka Networks is offering an enterprise-focused content delivery network (CDN) that rides on top of a private core network and provides two levels of caching at both ends of the network. Organizations obtain predictable latency and connectivity across the private core network and are able to bypass “middle mile congestions” that plagues typical Internet connectivity, according to Sonal Puri, vice-president of sales, marketing and alliances at Aryaka.

“Our goal is to provide quality networking and optimization,” she said. “You can liken us to Amazon Web Service, but we are a network-on-demand, we’re here to help enterprises get their apps from point A to point B through our MPLS-like private network.”

MPLS refers to multi-protocol label switching, a mechanism in high performance telecommunication networks that directs data from one network node to the next based on short path labels instead of long network address in order to able complex lockups in a routing table.

Enterprise IT managers and those supporting business Web sites with the need for public access are burdened with the challenge of providing high performance, cost-effective access to HTTP or HTTPS applications to globally distributed users like partners, customers and remote employees.
