Vendor introduces application security for digital economy

Data breaches and hacker threats encompass all aspects of technology, and applications are no different.

To counteract these threats, F5 Networks has released a new security product line that treats security as an important aspect of application development. Instead of focusing on bringing security to apps once they are completed, the Herculon security product line would make security part of the process of development.

“Applications and data are among the most valuable assets of any organization,” F5 CTO Ryan Kearny said in a statement. “Without reliable applications, you essentially halt customer discovery, transactions, and revenue. To safeguard the customer experience, F5 advocates an application-centric approach where security, access, and identity management are treated as intrinsic parts of application development and deployment.”

The Herculon line includes two products:

F5 is also introducing a cloud-based application Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) with Silverline Web Application Firewall (WAF) Express. This is a pre-configured, self-service offering that uses the cloud-based 5F Silverline platform. It would allow customers to select which applications WAF services are applied to while F5 manages the security behind the scenes.

To manage all of these new products and services, F5 has created a Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) that can provide additional support if a customer issue pops up throughout any product lifecycle.

All of these F5 services are available now. For more, you can contact a local F5 sales office.
