After graduating with a degree in computing science from the University of Ulster, Ireland, Siobhan Byron started her career in the industry working in the Bank of Ireland’s IT department.

Byron said while she was studying in university, she took a liking to the “IT world and the business side of things,” and so when the Bank of Ireland came to her school, she applied and was selected for a role in its IT department.
Following her job at the bank, Byron later took up a job at Systemhouse, which was later acquired by EDS. Her career with Systemhouse started out in Ireland, but Byron said she was interested in travel and eventually moved across the world to Ottawa in 1995.
Prior to her role at Forsythe, Byron held several positions at MTS Allstream, where she served in positions such as vice-president of professional services and the director of its ERP (enterprise resource planning) practice.
Now as president of Forsythe Technology Canada and vice-president of managed services, Byron is responsible for overseeing and leading the company’s corporate strategy in its security, storage and managed services line of the business across the country.
For Byron, working in the IT field is something she’s enjoyed for the past 18 years.
She advises those who aspire to work in IT to “enjoy something that you do because if you don’t, that will show.”
