Symantec Partner Engage 2009

Symantec’s CEO

Enrique Salem, Symantec’s CEO, spoke to partners during a general keynote session to discuss the company’s new Sell-With Services model. Salem said the model is meant to help partners increase their revenue and direct sales opportunities.

Partners who register new deals in the enterprise, mid-market or SMB spaces will be eligible to participate in the Sell-With Services model.

Randy Cochran, the channel’s maestro

Randy Cochran, vice-president of channel sales for the Americas at Symantec, also took to the stage to discuss the value of the new services model.

“Our goal is not to compete with our partners here,” Cochran said.

The Sell-With Services model offers channel partners tools, access to new accounts and is a way to have direct access to Symantec.

Symantec Canada’s general manager

Michael Murphy, general manager for Symantec Canada, was also on hand at the event to meet and speak with partners.

Salem said Symantec is striving to make the company more “open and transparent” for partners to make it easier to do business with.

Canadian partner representation

Gavin Hood, regional vice-president for Mississauga, Ont.-based ESI Information Technologies Inc., a Symantec partner, was one of the Canadian partners at the conference.

Symantec announced new partner programs and enhancements to help boost sales. These new offerings include SymDemo, the Enterprise Authorized Renewals Program, Partner Community and a new Enterprise Security Specialization.

Canadian award winners

Ves Bjelakovic, vice-president of sales and marketing at Lanworks, a Symantec partner located in Mississauga, Ont., was one of the lucky partners to walk away with a 2009 Partner Award from the vendor.

“The 2009 Channel Partner Awards recognize the focus of our partners who have truly invested in themselves and Symantec to deliver solutions that help customers reduce costs and minimize risks to deliver a near-term return on investment,” Cochran said.
