HP and Tandberg trumpet lifesize video conferencing

“Presenting high-quality and life-sized images of people to each other in distant rooms with zero or minimal delay as they react to whatever they say and do. Expensive and complicated gear, networks and software are necessary to run such large images with minimal delay. The idea is to save on travel costs and to help people in dispersed teams work better together. Rising oil prices and tales of airline travel woes have proved to be powerful inducers of telepresence sales.”
Asus announces quad-core gaming laptop (again)

John Morris provides details around Asus’ new quad-core notebook which the vendor is bringing to market strictly for consumer play.
“This week (Asus) announced that the G71 ‘Republic of Gamers,’ a 17-inch gaming laptop, now offers Intel’s new 2.53GHz Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300. Asus still hasn’t said much about availability or pricing, but a configuration (the G71V-A1) with a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 dual-core processor, WUXGA display, 4GB of memory, 400GB hard drive and Blu-ray costs a little more than $2,000.”
ZoomProspector launches to the public to help businesses relocate

Jason Kincaid highlights a new Web site called ZoomProspector, which lets businesses conduct nationwide searches to help them find the best locations to relocate.
“ZoomProspector rates cities across the country by a number of relevant criteria, including proximity to airports, commute times, demographics, or the availability of venture capital in the area (you can also choose to exclude some of these items if they aren’t important to you). One of the more useful search functions is the ability to see what other businesses operate in the vicinity, so businesses can determine if they’re going to be working close to a competitor, or even a potential client. Once a business has found an appropriate city, it can view individual properties that have been added by real estate agents.”
