Acronis integrates with Google Cloud

Acronis is partnering with Google Cloud to help its partners and customers backup even more data, the company announced today.

The new agreement will increase the number of cloud regions Acronis partners and customers can access, the data protection company said in a March 5 press release. It will also bring faster upload speeds and data sovereignty options to users in multiple countries, although the company did not specify which ones. Users have been asking for this integration for a long time, said John Zanni, president of Acronis.

“The integration of Google Cloud with Acronis backup products is one of the top requests from our users,” said Zanni. “There are many businesses who have invested in public cloud infrastructure. We’re making it easy for them to use it with Acronis.”

Future releases of Acronis’ backup, disaster recovery and file sync and share solutions will be integrated with Google Cloud. Acronis said it plans to extend the support for Google Cloud workloads and allow the use of Google Cloud for disaster recovery. It also wants to offer a Google Cloud deployment model for the Acronis Backup management server. It’s a partnership that greatly benefits Google as well, said Adam Massey, director of strategic technology partners for Google Cloud, especially in the mid-market.

“We are seeing an increasing number of customers take advantage of our storage products for data protection because they offer better flexibility, performance and economics,” said Massey.

Acronis says the integration of Google Cloud will be added into the next major versions of its products in 2018.
