Dell may come to rescue of Windows XP customers

According to InfoWorld, Dell has stated it will sell and support Windows XP even after Microsoft’s June 30th cut-off date. Shane Schick writes more here.
“Dell will take advantage of a licensing option in Vista Business and Vista Ultimate that lets PC makers provide XP under the Vista license, which Microsoft calls a “downgrade” license. (Enterprises with site licenses have these same rights with any version of Vista.) In essence, the user is buying a Vista license that it can apply to XP, and Microsoft can still claim a Vista sale.”

Nicholas Carlson comments on Apple’s recently updated iMacs.
“Apple updated its iMacs today with a new processor from Intel that’s not supposed to be available for another 45 days yet. It’s not the first time Intel gave Steve Jobs first dibs. A year ago, new iMacs came out with an Intel 3.0-GHz quad-core processor that HP and Dell had to wait on.”
AMD to intro 45nm quad-core Phenom this quarter

Tony Smith highlights some new products coming down AMD’s pipeline this year and the next.
“AMD’s desktop roadmap also calls for the Q3 launch of the tri-core 2.2GHz Phenom X3 8550, filling the empty space between the current 8450 and 8650. Expect to see the arrival of the low-power 8450e, 9150e and 9350e in Q3 too. These are 65nm parts – 45nm low-power quad-cores, codenamed ‘Propus’, will apparently debut some time in H1 2009.”
