“For all the coverage the netbook subject gets, you’d think they would bethe next coming of the iPhone or Blackberry. Netbooks would start showing up incoffee shops, bookstores and in airports, with small groups of people huddledaround to get a glimpse at one of these new devices. The reality is just theopposite in my experience. I don’t know anyone that has one and haven’t seenanyone using a netbook in the local Starbucks I frequent nearly everyday. Are netbooks popping up all over your world? I’m guessing not.”

Yahoo Meets Q1 Expecations, To Lay Off Another 5%

John Abell writes that Yahoo will soon be going through another round of worldwide layoffs.

“Yahoo met Wall Street Q1 earnings expectations and announced Tuesday it would shed an additional five per cent of staff – about 680 employees worldwide. ‘The majority of impacted employees are expected to be notified within the next two weeks,’ it said.”
