Canadian MSP re-designs offering for Dell

Dell

Toronto-based managed services provider Carbon60 Networks has integrated Dell PowerEdge C Series servers into its 40G network infrastructure to create a more cost-effective managed service and cloud offering for the enterprise.

Kelly Beardmore, CEO of Carbon60 Networks, said the new ultra-dense cloud environment is extremely attractive from a total cost of ownership point of view. In coming months the company plans to replace more legacy equipment with next generation Dell PowerEdge C Series servers to further improve revenues to data-centre-cost ratio and in turn pass these cost savings on to clients.

The decision to go with Dell was made because of the level of support, service and consultancy, Beardmore added.

“Working with Dell we believe we have struck the perfect balance between hardware performance, availability, computing density and cost effectiveness, which allows us to deliver world-class services to our customers.”

Carbon60 Network’s clients come from a broad spectrum of industries including banking, financial services, media and public sector organizations, all of whom require always-available, highly secure hosting services for mission-critical data and applications. Carbon60 Networks can now host applications with high levels of redundancy and scalability irrespective of traffic spikes or hardware maintenance requirements.

The rack-mounted PowerEdge C servers allow Carbon60 to maximize its computing power while helping minimize its footprint and power consumption. Carbon60 built its first ultra-dense, cluster cloud infrastructure using six rack-mounted Dell PowerEdge C6100 servers, each with eight Intel Xeon core X5670 processors. With 48 core processors, and 1.5 TB of RAM in a 2U space.

With many high-profile clients requiring constant uptime for their mission-critical applications, Carbon60 Networks selected Dell ProSupport with Mission Critical Four Hour (4hr) Onsite Response Service. Should the need arise, a team of Dell engineers would be available to offer prompt support and replacement components to help ensure uptime is maintained and customer services are uninterrupted.
