Ottawa-based hardware vendor Eurocom has introduced a new program focused on the education market called Eurocom Education Discount Program.

This program offers a 10 per cent discount on all Eurocom customizable and upgradable notebooks. One of the more interesting aspects of the program is that all the notebooks have standard upgrade possibilities such as memory and storage, but through this plan you have the ability to upgrade the processor. The company claims to be offering thousands of customizable options on each laptop in the program.

Mark Bialic, Eurocom president, said that if a customer buys a notebook from Eurocom as a high school graduation gift, it’s built to last past university graduation.”

Featured in this program is the Eurocom Shark 3, a small, lightweight unit equipped with Intel’s 4th generation i7 processor. For example, a user will be able to upgrade to the Extreme i7-4940MX in the Eurocom Education Discount Program. With up to 24GB of RAM and a maximum of 6TB of storage over two HDD/SSD (SATA3), the Shark 3 also has one mSATA (SATA3) and another optional HDD/SSD, via the ODD bay and is configurable at RAID 0/1.

There are also security options on the Shark 3 with embedded 1.2 trusted platform module (TPM) security, integrated fingerprint recognition and optional Kensington lock. Pricing starts at $949 and the Shark 3 also has a backlit keyboard with three levels of brightness; 1.40±0.2mm full travel keys.

This wasn’t Eurocom’s only channel news. The 30-year old manufacturer also announced a partnership with big box retailers Best Buy and FutureShop.

There will be two Eurocom Uno 3 SKUs on BestBuy.ca and FutureShop.ca. The Uno 3 is designed primarily for corporate customers. The eco-friendly 120 Watts, 7.5kg (16.5lbs) all-in-one PC enables organizations to reduce downtime caused by power interruptions, the company claims.

The Uno 3 has an integrated battery pack, which provides backup power in case of electrical failure, while also allowing for relocation without shutdown.

Bialic added that as a Canadian company it is very pleasing to be working with BestBuy Canada to offer Canadian-made technology to fellow Canadians through BestBuy.ca and FutureShop.ca.

The Uno 3 starts at $1,199.
