Case management system in BC improves service, security

The province of British Columbia has entered into a six-year agreement with Deloitte Inc. to develop a new computer-based integrated case management system to help deliver major social services programs.

The new case management system will be called Integrated Case Management (ICM) and will improve the way the ministries of Housing and Social Development (MHSD) and Children and Family Development (MCFD) manage client information.

Over the six-year period, the complete cost of the project is about $181 million. New tools for front-line staff will start to be implemented later this year.

The ICM system will replace outdated technology and will allow MHSD and MCFD to improve their file sharing and case files between the ministries.

The objective is to create a more client-centred service system for about 200,000 British Columbians to better support their clients.
