Dimension Data changes up its cloud plans

Dimension Data announced it has consolidated its cloud businesses, OpSource and BlueFire, under the Dimension Data corporate brand.

The company said this move enables it to further accelerate its cloud strategy by allowing Dimension Data to deliver cloud services under one consistent, global brand, which includes the Canadian market. This move will also see the company hire more people to support the consolidated effort in the Cloud Solutions Business Unit starting next year. Steve Nola, CEO of Dimension Data’s Cloud Solutions Business Unit said the combined competencies and capabilities of Dimension Data, OpSource and BlueFire are key differentiators for us. Each bring unique skill sets, business processes and intellectual property, including cloud orchestration, management, and over-the-top services.

“By rebranding OpSource and BlueFire to Dimension Data, we will be able to leverage our collective experience, and our Managed Cloud Platform, CloudControl cloud management system, and public and private cloud service offerings, to execute complex, multi-national cloud projects,” Nola said.In addition, to the consolidation move, Dimension Data will be able to offer other solutions and services to customers.

To enable businesses to transact online and purchase cloud computing resources on demand, Dimension Data this month launches its cloud services Web site. The service supports the provisioning of cloud computing, storage and networking infrastructure across its public Managed Cloud Platform service. The online sales process is backed with live chat capabilities and an inside sales support team that makes it easier to transact online.
