Do-it-yourself data recovery

Disaster recovery vendor and service provider Kroll Ontrack is expanding its offerings with the launch of Ontrack EasyRecovery version 10.1, its do-it-yourself software tool for data recovery.

The updated self-recovery offering comes with a new operating system and language support, and is designed to help users perform an unlimited amout of recoveries on all drive types, rather than send the drive to Kroll Ontrack for recovery by its own recovery experts.

The new version includes support for Windows 8, support for 64-bit Windows, added language support with the addition of Dutch and Polish, as well as English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese, automatic notifications and easier updates, and an improved diskviewer that gives IT administrators a hex viewer to view selected disk contents and improve the chance of a recovery.

“We’re committed to keeping Ontrack EasyRecovery current and addressing the toughest data recovery challenges,” said Abhik Mitra, data recovery product manager for Kroll Ontrack, in a statement. “The tool’s powerful functionality coupled with its simplicity of use, licensing structure, and the ability to download a free trial and view your recoverable data before purchasing the software make Ontrack EasyRecovery a compelling and effective solution for recovering files that are damaged or deleted, as well as retrieving data from formatted or corrupt volumes.”
