Eco-friendly accessory powered by water

Product designer Mark Bedol has introduced the Bedol Water Clock, which is powered by water.

Called the Squirt Alarm Bedol Water Clock, it runs on water from a semi-transparent water reservoir. This water source has proprietary metallic plates that allow ions in the water to be turned into current which powers the clock and alarm.

All a user has to do is fill the clock with water and it will never need batteries or electricity.

The Squirt is sculpted in the shape of a water drop and can even be packed in a travel bag, according to Bedol.

The suggested retail price of the Squirt is $26 and it has a non-traditional channel set up. Instead of BestBuy, FutureShop or Staples, the Squirt will be made available at Bath Beyond locations throughout Canada. The product is available in five colors: blueberry blue, kiwi green, tangerine orange, plum purple and smoke gray.

Mark Bedol has been developing alternative-type products with an eco-friendly focus for a number of years. Bedol also designed the Checkmaster, a checkbook calculator that simultaneously balances three different accounts and the Supersmart line of children’s school supplies.
