Ex-Microsoft executive hired to run Ingram Canada marketing

Former Microsoft and CA executive Derick Wong will be leading the marketing division at Ingram Micro Canada.

The marketing post has been left vacant since Deborah Brown left the distributor in the middle of last year.

Wong will be responsible for the entire marketing operation in Canada and will be working in conjunction with the U.S. marketing arm of Ingram on North American initiatives.

In this new role, Wong will focus primarily on marketing services, vendor programs, events management, partner communities such as VentureTech Network and SMB Alliance.

Mark Snider, GM of Ingram Micro Canada said Wong brings a very strong and unique skill set to this position. He most recently held the position of senior director of product marketing for CA specializing in virtualization, Cloud Computing, and Data Center automation.

In fact, Wong while at Microsoft was one of the early proponants of virtualization. Wong was a senior security product manager at Microsoft and quickly attained a leadership role for its virtualization business and Go-to-market strategy.

Prior to joining Microsoft Wong worked as a senior consulting manager for Ernst & Young and co-founder his own 30 plus employee company which he successfully sold.

Snider added that the graduate of Waterloo University has proven business, marketing and technical background offers a unique perspective to Ingram Micro’s marketing team and will help deliver even greater business value to Ingram Micro’s channel partners. “We have a very strong marketing team in place in Canada and with Derick’s background and leadership, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate these efforts and better meet the needs of our IT Vendor partners and solution provider customers.”
