Telus switching to GSM?

Dave Webb writes on what it will take for Telus to move from its current CDMA cell phone network and into GSM standard.

“Moving to GSM would come at tremendous cost, and not just in infrastructure. What about all those customers with CDMA models? If Telus is to keep them, it means free or nearly free phones for everybody. And a customer changing phones is at a fork in the road – it’s an opportunity to consider switching providers.”

Yahoo is following in Google’s tracks with its new shuttle buses, writes Owen Thomas.

“Google’s shuttle buses, which ferry workers directly from San Francisco to the inconveniently sited Googleplex, inspired a copycat offering at Yahoo. But like so many areas where Yahoo has tried to copy Google, the effort has proved expensive and unrewarding.”
