Update: We have updated the piece with comments from Mark Interrante, senior vice president of engineering at HP Helion.

Las Vegas, NV – HP today announced updates to its Helion portfolio including update 9.0 of its CloudSystem solution as well as a refresh of its Managed Cloud Services.

In version 9.0 of what HP calls its “flagship integrated enterprise cloud solution,” support has been expanded to include multiple hypervisors, including including Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat KVM, VMware vSphere, as well as bare-metal deployments.

It has also added support for various clouds, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, HP Helion Public Cloud, OpenStack technology and VMware. HP said in a statement that users are able to control where to shift workloads.  Support for AWS-compatible private clouds is even available through integration with Helion Eucalyptus.

It further integrates with Helion OpenStack and Helion Development Platform to allow for cloud-native application development.

According to Mark Interrante, senior vice president of engineering at HP Helion, this will cut down the complexity of implementations that channel partners have to do for their customers.

“This dramatically reduces the duplications,” said Interrante. “With the cross-platform support, CloudSystem 9 will be one place where you can put almost all the relevant workloads you might have.”

On the services front, HP is launching two in beta later this year to help customers manage their private clouds, one for the Helion OpenStack Private Cloud and the other for the Helion Eucalyptus Private Cloud.

Interrante was unclear whether there was opportunity for channel partners to help HP provide these managed services to Helion customers.

In addition, Helion Managed Cloud Services will support cloud-native app development “within a managed cloud service via the HP Helion Development Platform and automation of select virtual private cloud services,” the company said in a statement.

CloudSystem 9.0 will support multiple vendor hardware environments as either as a standalone software or as an integraded infrastructure solution with HP ConvergedSystem.  It will also be available later this year.
