Starting March 21, Sahota will lead the Canadian division’s channel strategy and report to Charlie Atkinson, managing director of HPE Canada.

Sahota ha about three decades of experience in sales and channel-related roles at various IT companies including IBM, VMware, SAS and NetApp. His most recent role was director of enterprise mid market solutions for New England and Canada at EMC.

Sahota was named the sales manager for provincial and public sector at SAS Canada in 2013 after a stint as the VMware Canada channel chief. Sahota ran VMware Canada’s partner and commercial sales business. He was promoted to the position of director, partner and commercial sales in 2008.

He transferred to VMware from EMC, the parent company and was responsible for driving and executing strategy for the channel partner eco-system team across Canada.

During his time at VMware, Sahota built a partner ecosystem team to distribution, solution providers, OEM partners and alliances that represented about 95 per cent of the revenue. Sahota also developed and executed enablement plans for partners to increase sales of end user compute, application development and cloud based solutions. He also launched the commercial business unit across Canada and implemented a market segmentation strategy to ensure adequate coverage for commercial business leveraging the partner eco-system.

“Jas has a wealth of sales and channel experience and is ideally suited to lead our channel business and Inside Sales team,” Atkinson said in a statement. “His leadership experience and passion for partners will enhance our ability to accelerate partner growth by helping our joint customers transform to the New Style of Business.”
