HP: webOS also coming to notebooks and desktop computers

Ryan Paul shares more details about HP’s plans for its webOS platform.
“Although the new Touchpad tablet was the highlight of HP’s (recent) press event, the company also dropped some tantalizing hints about its future plans for the webOS platform. HP says that it plans to bring the operating system to a wide range of form factors and expects to eventually ship it on desktop and notebook computers. One of the most intriguing innovations that HP demonstrated was the seamless communication between its webOS devices. For example, users can share a Web page URL between a Touchpad tablet and the Pre 3 by simply tapping them together. The prospect of being able to take advantage of cross-device syncing and communication across the full spectrum of mobile devices and desktop computers seems extremely compelling.”

“Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers insisted that the networking giant’s second quarter of fiscal 2011 played out as expected when he announced that quarter’s financial numbers on Wednesday. Revenues were a little better than anticipated, rising six per cent to $10.4B, but net income was slammed 17.9 per cent compared to the year-ago period, dropping to $1.52B.”
BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC coming in April for $500 for 16GB version

Sean Portnoy writes about RIM’s upcoming PlayBook tablet.
“CrackBerry.com received a leaked internal document from Office Depot that shows that the PlayBook will be priced at $499.99 for the 16GB model, which puts it in line with the cost of the equivalent Apple iPad. The document also lists an on-sale date of late March/early April, which will precede the rollout of the HP TouchPad by a few months.”
