“Apple has confirmed it has now refreshed all the product lines it’s going to revamp this year. The Mac maker doesn’t usually comment on rumours, but this week a spokesman broke ranks and told Macworld magazine that the iMac and Mac Mini will not be updated between now and the end of the year, contradicting speculation to the contrary.”

Heather Clancy provides details about IBM’s updates to its Tivoli management platform, in which the company is working to help end-users become more energy-efficient.

“The Tivoli update layers the Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management module into the Tivoli Usage and Accounting Management Software. This will allow companies to collect energy and power consumption information (sliced and diced by individual, application, service, machine or department) and to assess usage trends.”

“Nokia has announced that it is trimming down its operations by cutting over 600 positions, mainly in marketing and sales departments. The Nokia Research Center (NRC), the business unit that explores and develops technologies that will be available in the marketplace in five to ten years, will also focus on fewer research areas from now on. Nokia (also) touts the introduction of a range of low-priced mobile devices and new services catered specifically to people in emerging markets.”
