Lordy, lordy, Oki Data Americas just turned 40

Staff at Oki Data Americas offices throughout the Americas – including Canada – took time away from the printer business this week to celebrate the subsidiary’s 40th anniversary.

With offices today throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Latin Americas, Oki Data Americas is based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey and was founded in December 1972 as a joint venture between Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd. of Japan and a member of the former RCA Computer Division.

Its first product, the LP500 line printer, was released in 1973 and today the vendor produces a wide range of consumer and commercial printing and imaging products.

Oki Data Americas staff celebrate the anniversary.

“Oki Data Americas is proud of its long-term standing as a provider of innovative printing solutions and looks forward to another successful forty years,” said Scott Becker, executive vice-president of North America sales and marketing for OKI Data Americas, in a statement. “We thank our team of dedicated employees for their service to the company, in addition to all those who have contributed to OKI’s success – most especially our channel partners and loyal customers.”

Earlier this fall, Oki Data formed a strategic alliance with CMIT Solutions of Austin, Tex. that will see the printer vendor provide CMIT’s 130-plus Managed Service Providers (MSPs) with a standardized business model of Managed IT Network and Managed Print Services.
