McAfee Canada has a new president

CDN has learned from a source that Luc Villeneuve, the former president of NCR Canada and Europe will be returning to the channel as president of McAfee Canada. The current president of McAfee Canada Ross Allen will be named president of McAfee UK & Ireland shortly.

According to the source, Allen has been spending three weeks out of every month in the U.K. running the operation there; while still maintain his role as Canadian subsidiary president.

Villeneuve returns from a brief stay as president of NCR Europe based in Paris. Villeneuve was replaced as NCR Canada president by former HP Canada senior executive Linda Fitzgerald. When Villeneuve returned to Canada in late 2011 he worked for NCR alliance partner PharmaTrust, a maker of kiosks for the healthcare industry.

Villeneuve is a channel veteran who has held executive positions with Sun Microsystems Canada and GE Capital. While at NCR Canada, Villeneuve made growing the NCR’s indirect channel a priority and grew that business to from very little to more than 15 per cent of NCR’s overall revenue.

As for Allen, he earned a lot of credit from boosting McAfee Canada revenue during a down economy in Canada. Under his watch, McAfee increased its focus on data protection to respond to evolving threats. Allen directed his channel team to take a data loss prevention approach which required deeper partner engagement. This strategy provided more opportunity for McAfee channel partners in Canada to expand its business with existing customers, while increasing McAfee sales.

Allen was also instrumental in bringing more awareness to closing the gaps in the fight against cybercrime, anchored by a multi-point plan that included calls for action from law enforcement, academia, service providers, government, the security industry and society at large to deliver more effective investigations and prosecutions of cybercrime.

Allen is a former president of InfoStream Technologies, a Richmond Hill, Ont.-based systems integrator, and came to McAfee after positions with EMC and Copan Systems.
