MARKHAM, Ont. – McAfee, Inc. announced Data Loss Prevention (DLP), what it called a comprehensive solution for preventing both accidental and malicious loss of confidential data for Windows systems at end points and gateways.

McAfee Data Loss Prevention Gateway, which will be available next month, complements McAfee Data Loss Prevention Host, announced in February, the company said, by delivering multi-layered protection that prevents data loss at the desktop and the gateway. McAfee DLP Gateway prevents data loss from guest laptops, non-Windows systems, servers, mobile devices and all other agent-less devices by blocking the transfer of confidential information at the gateway.
McAfee said the protection of agent-less devices is growing in importance as corporations and government agencies are increasingly using mobile devices and laptops to access sensitive information on corporate networks.
Minimum system requirements include a server with a 2.8Ghz Intel Pentium IV server or better, at least 1Gb of memory running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP1, and Microsoft SQL Sever Express Edition with SP1. PCs have to be running Windows XP, with at least a Pentium PIII 1Ghz CPU and 512MB of RAM.
All end stations and the server must be on one Active Directory domain.
