Microsoft and Armani fashion a phone

John Oates describes a partnership involving Microsoft, Giorgio Armani and Samsung.
“It’s a marriage made in heaven: Microsoft and Giorgio Armani, with a little help from Samsung, have launched a mobile phone. The Armani phone runs Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5. The steampunk device is presumably not going to be included in a lot of mobile contract bundles given its high price: $1,000.”
HP’s Touchsmart: A PC, maybe, but cooler as a TV

Sam Diaz writes about HP’s new TouchSmart PC product.
“I think HP may be on to something with its TouchSmart PC. The new TouchSmarts, which are being unveiled today, are technically computers, complete with mouse and keyboard. But the heart of the device is the screen, specifically a touch screen display that’s populated with apps that include Netflix and Hulu – and that makes it feel a little less like a computer and more like a TV set.”
Microsoft adds an ‘Office Starter’ edition to its distribution plans

Mary Jo Foley shares some information regarding Microsoft’s Office 2010 product which is set to ship next summer.
“Office Starter 2010: A preload that includes stripped-down versions of only Word 2010 and Excel 2010. (Stripped-down here means basic document viewing and editing only.) Starter will be ad-supported, so, free. This is meant to replace the Microsoft Works trial that is often preloaded on new PCs. In spite of its name, Office Starter 2010 really has little resemblance to Windows 7 Starter Edition.”
