Microsoft Canada selects UK exec for SMS&P role

U.K. senior executive for Microsoft Mark Dodds has been named the new vice president of small-to-mid-market solutions and partners (SMS&P) at Microsoft Canada, the defacto No. 2 position at the Canadian subsidiary behind president Max Long.

Dodds was currently holding the worldwide general manager, public sector position and was based in Redmond, Wash., Microsoft headquarters.

Long told CDN that Dodds will help Microsoft Canada ramp up for a busy Fall where the company will have a lot of high profile events and announcements starting with Windows 8 on Oct. 25th.

“Mark is a smart guy, bringing very relevant experience and a global perspective. I’m thrilled to have him. He’ll be taking the reins later this month,” Long said.

Dodds replaces the departed Neil Tanner, who left the role just after the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto in July.Dodds brings sales and marketing experience from a global and national perspective to the job. He has an exceptional record of achievement in marketing; acquisitions; sales management and wealth creation in several roles at Microsoft UK and at HQ.

One of Dodds specialties is selling and marketing cloud offerings and digital marketing. He was once the business development manager for E-Commerce at Microsoft U.K.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Dodds has a passion for building high performing teams and groups. Dodds started his career at American Express U.K. as a sales manager.With this hire Long fills out Microsoft Canada’s channel team.

Greg Larnder, the former senior executive at Compugen, CDN’s No. 1 Solution Provider at its Top 100 event, was announced as the new Microsoft Canada Channel Chief during the partner conference in Toronto.
