Robert Mullins shares details about Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Web browser.

“Circle Sept. 15 on your calendars for the beta launch of Windows Internet Explorer 9, as Microsoft executives hop on a quick flight from Redmond down to San Francisco for a kickoff event. Microsoft’s chief operating officer, Kevin Turner, revealed a September launch at the company’s annual Financial Analyst Meeting July 29, but now we have a specific date.”

Cisco misses on Q4 revenue

Jim Duffy recaps Cisco’s fourth fiscal quarter revenue results.

“Cisco missed revenue expectations for its fourth fiscal quarter. Even though the company beat Wall Street earnings expectations by a penny a share, a 27 per cent revenue hike fell short of the Street’s forecasts of 28 per cent growth. As a result, Cisco’s stock got hammered in after hours trading earlier today, after it released Q4 results. Q4 sales were $10.8 billion, just $100 million shy of the Wall Street target of $10.9 billion.”

Samsung and Seagate snuggle on solid state drives

“Samsung and Seagate will jointly develop and cross-license controller technologies for solid state drives (SSDs) used in enterprise applications. The release singles out Seagate’s enterprise storage technology, meaning its hard disk drive experience (HDD), and Samsung’s 30nm multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash expertise.”
