Mobility strategies in the workplace

What Makes a Mobility Strategy Successful?
Network World
Irwin Lazar writes about mobility strategies in organizations.

“Despite the increased criticality and visibility of mobile initiatives, IT leaders say their mobility success remains somewhat mixed. Just eight per cent of organizations classify their mobility initiatives as ‘extremely successful;’ the same percentage say their initiatives are ‘unsuccessful.’ One challenge lies in how best to define “success” in this time of cost-cutting. IT professionals are under intense pressure to reduce costs, yet deploying mobile devices and services usually represents a net cost increase, at least from an IT perspective. The benefits of mobility generally accrue not to IT, but rather to individual lines of business, which can streamline operations and improve the success of interactions by mobile-enabling their employees.”

Yoni Heisler shares more Apple iPad 2 spec rumours.

“Rumour wise, the iPad 2 continues to bring the heat. The latest rumour suggests that the next-gen iPad will incorporate NFC chips and will forgo an aluminum build in favour of carbon fiber. Some lofty ideas that should obviously be taken with a grain of salt.”

The Register
Bill Ray writes about Windows Phone 7.

“Steve Ballmer took the opportunity of his MWC keynote to tell people what Windows Phone 7 will be like this time next year, and remind them how great it already is. Despite already being great, Windows Phone 7 will see some upgrades later this year – multitasking, of a sort, and lots of Sky Drive integration along with IE9 and Twitter joining Facebook in the Social Hub.”
