Notebook battery famine set to continue

Kelly Fiveash reports on the notebook battery shortage which vendors have warned customers about since the beginning of the year.
“Earlier this year major computer vendors including Hewlett-Packard and Dell, grumbled about the kink in the supply chain, which was caused in part by a fire on 3 March at South Korea’s LG Chem factory, where some laptop batteries are manufactured. The industry has repeatedly warned that a worldwide shortage of laptop batteries would impact prices, shipments and sales.”
Dear Motorola: Instead of suing competitors, maybe figure out why employees are leaving

Mike Masnick follows the latest news on Motorola suing former employees who have left for competitors.
“The company is suing RIM for getting a bunch of Motorola employees to leave Motorola and join RIM. To any outsider, it seems clear that Motorola has some problems that make it so employees are tempted to jump to other companies. But rather than focus on figuring out how to fix that, and make things such that employees want to stick around, it’s lashing out at competitors who are more appealing to Motorola’s own employees.”

“A leaked internal AT&T press release discovered by The Boy Genius Report indicates that the black-and-chrome device will house a 480 by 320-pixel, half-VGA color display and a full QWERTY keyboard, as well as built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, a 624 MHz mobile processor rated at ‘twice the processing speed’ of previous BlackBerrys, 1GB of memory and desktop-style Web browsing.”
