Eurocom of Ottawa has confirmed that it has struck a deal with Best Buy Canada and will be working together on building business and consumer notebooks for the marketplace.
These machines will feature Nvidia Quadro mobile workstations and the business line of laptops will be support by some gaming laptops, and thin and light, ultraportable notebooks.
Mark Bialic, the president of Eurocom, said the company is happy to assist Best Buy in transitioning from selling low cost products to more complex, more expensive computer equipment for professional computing. Eurocom equipment is targeting individual, corporate and SMB users developing content that requires high end computers with more processing power. Eurocom technology will allow Best Buy to capture some new vertical markets.
According to the company, Eurocom will be offering a complete line of products ranging from the ultraportable notebooks priced at $999 scaling up to $1,399, small form factor systems to high performance professional grade notebooks and gaming notebooks starting at $1,500 and moving up to $4,899.
Recently Eurocom announced a thin, light and multi-touch enabled 14-inch ultrabook called the Armadillo.
The Armadillo features 10 point multi-touch display and weighs just two kilograms. The notebook is 22 mm thin and claims to have about nine hours of battery life. The machine has a brushed metal exterior to simulate the rough exterior of the Armadillo.
No price was released for the Armadillo.
