”Nokia, the world’s largest cell phone maker, warned that defective batteries in as many as 52 of its phones can overheat when they’re recharging. The warning is reminiscent of a Sony (SNE) battery recall last year that affected millions of laptops made by manufacturers including Apple (AAPL), Dell (DELL), Toshiba and Fujitsu.”

“In September 2005, Dell unveiled its own player, the DJ Ditty, to compete with the iPod Shuffle –you may not recall because it all happened so quickly. The Ditty was pulled last August, less than a year after its launch. At the time, a spokesman told the Wall Street Journal the company wanted to focus instead on its core products, like PCs and printers.”

“Google Blogoscoped has posted tipster-supplied screenshots of a prototype of Google’s upcoming health-information service. Presumably, these are screens from the demo reportedly being shopped around to health professionals and other advisors. While the amount of data Google Health plans to store is impressive, and potentially helpful, it’s terrifying to contemplate the prospect of one company controlling all of your personal data – from communications and business documents to medical records.”
