Privacy Commissioner of Canada announces consultations for Canadians on privacy issues

The Privacy Commissioner of Canada has announced an upcoming consultation for Canadians on privacy issues related to online tracking, profiling and targeting of consumers by marketing firms and other organizations.

This public consultation is slated to be the first in a series and will focus on the technological trends that are likely to have a significant impact on Canadians and their privacy.

The next consultation relating to privacy issues will also involve cloud computing technology. This consultation is expected to be announced sometime in the near future.

The Office is currently accepting the written submissions of individuals who wish to participate in these consultations. The submissions will be accepted until Mar. 15, 2010.

The formal consultation panels will be held in April in Toronto and in May in Montreal.
