Report from the president: Sky is the limit for C4

With a great foundation to build on, I’m very excited about what the future holds for the Canadian Channel Chiefs Council (C4) as we move past the start-up phase and into one of growth and development, launching new programs and services to further our mission – raising the profile of the channel chief as a professional and valued executive.

Our board of directors is now at full complement, with a who’s who of the Canadian channel guiding our organization’s progress. Member recruitment is well in hand with Elaine Milrad and Ron Cohen focused on recruiting Corporate members, and Corinne Sharp focused on recruiting Alliance members.

I’d like to talk about these two types of members for a moment. When we launched C4 our focus was on the channel chief – the Corporate members – and supporting them in their career growth and development. That remains our key focus, but we quickly decided it made sense to add a second category – Alliance members. These are the solution providers that play an integral part of the channel ecosystem.

We’re currently developing and fleshing out these two membership categories and value propositions, with a specific program and benefits for our Alliance members. We welcome your input on this, and I’ll have more to report soon.

Our C4 Web site is now live at www.channelchiefs.ca. Through this web site, and our regular e-newsletters, you can learn more about C4 and our mission, as well as access our latest research and course information and learn more about our members.

The channel is a community, and C4 is your organization. As your president, I am here to serve you. Please reach out to myself or our vice-president of programs and membership, Italia Corigliano, with your thoughts, suggestions and questions.

I am excited about what the future holds for C4 and for the Canadian IT channel, and I hope you will join us on this exciting journey.
