RIM launches new BlackBerry Certification Program

Research In Motion (RIM) has just unveiled its BlackBerry Certification Program, which targets IT professionals and consultants of the BlackBerry wireless platform.

The new service offers certifications in three areas which include, technical certifications for IT professionals and consultants, administration and support, and certifications for corporate developers.

Peter Broughall, vice-president of customer support operations at RIM, said the program will be made available in 135 countries and will be offered by over 300 carriers around the world.

“There is substantial demand for qualified IT professionals that are certified to support BlackBerry solutions,” Broughall said. “Staff certified under the new BlackBerry Certification Program can use their skills in planning and managing deployments…(of) the BlackBerry platform,” he added.

IT professionals who wish to take part in the certification programs can visit www.prometric.com/blackberry to register for the computer-based exams. Certifications in the program this year include, BlackBerry Certified System Administrator, BlackBerry Certified Server Support Specialist, BlackBerry Certified Support Specialist and BlackBerry Certified Solution Designer. The BlackBerry Certified System Administrator will be the first certification designation available on May 13, with the other certifications set for availability in the fall of this year.

Additionally in 2009, new certifications will also be added to the program which include, BlackBerry Certified Enterprise Application Developer, BlackBerry Certified Trained and BlackBerry Sales Expert and BlackBerry Expert User. Certifications for organizations will also be made available next year which include BlackBerry Certified Reseller and BlackBerry Certified Training Center.
