Seagate ships its Cheetah enterprise drives to the channel

Hard disk drives and storage solutions vendor, Seagate, has announced today that it’s now shipping its Cheetah 15K.7 enterprise-class hard drives to the worldwide distribution channel.

The 3.5-inch hard drive is designed to work in a variety of server and storage applications. The drive is available in 6Gb/s SAS or 4Gb/s FC interfaces, and features Seagate PowerTrim technology, to help users minimize power consumption.

This technology helps system builders deliver lower-cost, multi-drive servers and storage systems.

Joe Cousins, vice-president of marketing at Bell Microproducts, says the new solutions help meet the needs of end-users who are looking to lower their total cost of ownership (TCO).

“Bell Micro’s customers continue to require added capacity and performance for their server and storage systems, but many also must focus on finding ways to lower a system’s TCO or easily integrate new solutions using existing platforms,” Cousins said. “The Cheetah 15K.7 delivers the low TCO and promise of easy integration for businesses of all sizes.”
