SkyDrive, Microsoft’s “iCloud,” to be integrated in Windows Phone Mango

Sarah Perez reports on Microsoft’s iCloud competitor.

“It will offer users the ability to share photos stored on SkyDrive via email, text messaging or IM (Windows Live Messenger or Facebook IM). Users will also be able to upload videos to SkyDrive, browse documents on SkyDrive, see documents shared with them on SkyDrive and search for documents across SkyDrive. These documents include, of course, those found in the Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.”

“Perhaps Microsoft’s plan is to do something similar to what Google did with the Android-based Nexus One. By building its own tablet, Microsoft can show the world what a properly envisioned Windows 8 tablet should look like. Samsung stays mum over Nokia bid rumors

“…one has to ask: does Samsung need Nokia? It’s hard to see why. Samsung already develops its own smartphones and tablets. Nokia abandoned Symbian, so it’s not like Samsung would be buying it for an operating system when it already has a relationship in place with Google and its Android OS.”
