Synnex Canada gets Lenovo’s IdeaPads

Lenovo has tapped distributor Synnex Canada (NYSE: SNX) to help it bring its consumer products to market by beginning to distribute is IdeaPad products to its Canadian channel partners.

In particular, Lenovo is looking for Synnex’s help in reaching its retail partners, including retailers such as TigerDirect and Canada Computers, in a bid to increase Lenovo’s footprint and presence in the Canadian retail market.

“We are excited to see IdeaPad gaining appeal and presence in the Canadian market through Synnex Canada and its retail partners,” said Steven di Franco, Lenovo’s vice-president of the transactional market. “Canadians across the country will now have broader access to some of the best notebook computing products from Lenovo specifically designed to meet the needs of today’s retail customers.”

Synnex Canada president Mitchell Martin said adding the Lenovo IdeaPad products to Synnex’s portfolio, building on the two company’s existing relationship around Lenovo’s ThinkPad and ThinkServer product lines, is part of the distributor’s ongoing strategy to broaden its IT product portfolio.

“Lenovo’s new IdeaPads are perfectly suited for the communities we support such as the small to medium business, independent and major retail and the consumer market place. The award winning IdeaPad product line comes standard with best of breed technologies and many built in features that are very cost-effective for its target demographic,” said Martin. “We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with Lenovo and are very pleased that our track record for strong execution has been rewarded with the addition of the Lenovo IdeaPad product line.”

Four Lenovo consumer products are now immediately available through Synnex Canada has part of the extended relationship. They include the IdeaPad Y530, a multi-use notebook; the IdeaPad U110, designed for mobility and portability, and the Lenovo S10 and S12, from the vendor’s netbook lineup.
