By far the most trending post this past week was a simple story about some heroics performed at the bar. Reddit user u/Borsaid says “I get stressed seeing computers not working at businesses.” That’s why he decided to reseat all the cables when the POS system went down. Then he got an open bar. Bravo.
Going nuclear from r/msp
Dozens of users have expressed support for a European-based MSP that’s suddenly found itself on its last legs. “We are now in a position where we ourselves will likely be forced to close down also because of all the lost revenue and profits,” Reddit user u/throwawaymsp101 wrote. “Let this be a lesson to everyone. We had all our eggs in very few baskets. We didn’t strategise carefully enough. We have a very good customer base still, but also too many overheads.” Many users shared similar stories on the thread or pledged to do what they could to help.
A number of complains about the incompleteness of the spreadsheets comparing Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools has led to a collective effort to update them. Attached in the post is a spreadsheet for RMM feature comparisons, another for AV pricing, and a third comparing backup features. Each document, it appears, is slowly receiving updates. One user claiming to be an account executive for Solarwinds made some contributions, too.
