Top Newsmaker: Websense Canada’s Fiaaz Walji

This year has been one of many changes for Websense Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN), a global provider of integrated Web, data and e-mail security solutions, says Fiaaz Walji, country manager for Websense in Canada.

At the beginning of the year, the company introduced its ChannelConnect Global Partner Program, following the acquisition of SurfControl last October. The program was meant to combine the best of both company’s previous partner programs, into one cohesive one.

The ChannelConnect program provides partners with access to the necessary training, resources and marketing support tools needed for deploying Websense solutions.

“Websense’s 2008 year has been one of growth and education,” Walji said. “Raising awareness for the Canadian market translates to more opportunities for the channel.”

Walji said 2008 proved to be a year with more channel commitment and participation than ever before.“We have more partners doing business with us today with an increase of between 10 and 15 per cent of unique partners for this year over last year,” he said.

This year, the company also worked to expand on its security solution portfolio. Websense now offers Web security solutions for the Web, e-mail and messaging spaces.“We’ve gone from a one-product to a multi product portfolio,” he explains.
